What Got You Into Wrestling: Caleb Duckworth

We all have our reasons for getting into this fantastic and at the same time bizarre business; everyone has a different story so here is mine. 5 year old me walks into class one morning and I can see all my friends gathered around something, I look closer into, and nudge my body through the huddle to see this sticker book. The man on the front cover- Rey Mysterio. He was like a super hero, except he was real!

The memory is so fresh in my mind! I've never forgot it. When I got home I booted up the old computer, not a laptop kids. A computer. An old one at that, I think it was pretty old even back then but I digress. I typed in WWE and the first match I saw I clicked on. That match was Booker T vs Batista at Summerslam.

I loved it. I was instantly hooked. From that point onwards I watched Raw and Smackdown religiously, but not PPV's as money was scarce at the time. Honestly if the Internet was what it is today I would have probably watched it illegally but I was an innocent child. So I would watch Raw and Smackdown every week without fail. I think now looking back it was inevitable I wasn't going to just be a casual fan. I gravitated to heels such as Randy Orton, Mark Henry and especially Edge, who is still my favourite wrestler of all time.
That's how I got into wrestling. It's been a whirlwind ride since then and I think if you told me I'd still be watching all these years later I would laugh at you. But that's the infectious side to it. That's why we continue to watch. We can't get away, we love wrestling. It may be 'fake', it may be childish. But we love wrestling.
